Police reading lessons

A police dog

The first of the reading lessons focuses on the police dogs. Teachers can use this appealing subject to improve pupils' reading skills with the help of the lesson plan and resources provided below.

Goals

The Police dogs section will give pupils the opportunity to:

  • understand the type of text they are reading
  • use a KWL (know/would like-to-know/learned) grid
  • work out the meanings of words they don’t know
  • answer true, false or can't-tell questions.
