Workshop L - Literacy in Action - Using Literacy to Improve Understanding in your Subject

Presented by: Scott McEwan, Principal Teacher of History, and Kathryn MacLeod, Teacher of English, Kirkintilloch High School; Caroline Harper, Chartered Teacher, and Neil Hannah, Teacher of Physics, St. Ninian’s High School

This seminar was led by teachers of science, history and English from East Dunbartonshire, who have been working with the Curriculum for Excellence literacy outcomes at third and fourth levels.

The teachers described how, working together, they improved pupil understanding in different subjects through the development of literacy skills. Learning and teaching approaches and materials were also shared during this seminar.
