Workshop L - Literacy in Action - Using Literacy to Improve Understanding in your Subject

This seminar was led by teachers of science, history and English from East Dunbartonshire, who have been working with the Curriculum for Excellence literacy outcomes at third and fourth levels.

The teachers described how, working together, they improved pupil understanding in different subjects through the development of literacy skills. Learning and teaching approaches and materials were also shared during this seminar.

This presentation (which is best watched in 'slideshow' view in MS PowerPoint) covered the attempt made by one secondary school to develop literacy across the curriculum. It outlined some of the strategies used.
