David Booth is Chair of Literacy at Nipissing University, and Professor Emeritus and Scholar in Residence at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, where he works in the arts in education and literacy education.
For over 40 years Dr Booth has been involved in education, as a classroom teacher, language arts consultant, professor, speaker and author. His students have included teachers and administrators enrolled in the pre-service, masters and doctoral programmes in education.
A popular international speaker, David Booth has participated in hundreds of conferences, speaking and presenting workshops in all areas of language learning, and has won several awards for his classroom teaching, for his contributions to the teaching of reading, and for his books for young people. He has been given Lifetime Achievement Awards for his contributions to drama education from national organisations in the UK, the United States and Canada.
