Workshop A - Scots Language

Presented by June Ranscombe, Literacy Development Officer, Highland Council, and Karen Pollard, Primary Teacher, Smithton Primary School

The languages, dialects and literature of Scotland provide a rich and valuable resource for children and young people to learn about Scotland’s culture, identity and language. The experiences and outcomes encourage appropriate emphasis upon Scotland’s literature and the languages of Scotland.

The Highland Scots Language Project has some practical ideas on how to introduce Scots language into the classroom, whilst making links to Curriculum for Excellence.
