Partnerships between schools and colleges

Strong links between schools and colleges help the learning and teaching in school to prepare young people for further qualifications and the world of work.

Schools and further education colleges should work together to provide more choices for young people and help them to develop confidence and the skills for learning, life and work.

Effective partnerships:

  • widen pupils' opportunities for progression and prepare them for further learning
  • ease pupils' transition from school to further learning, training or employment
  • broaden pupils' curriculum choices
  • enrich pupils' educational experiences.
