About Learning about Learning

Helping young people to become successful learners is one of the key aims of Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland.

Our knowledge about learning is continually changing in the light of research and there is still much that we do not know. This site provides an overview of current thinking on how people learn.

Who is it for?

It is aimed primarily at Scottish classroom teachers and school managers, but will also be of interest to local authorities, researchers, trainee teachers, parents and pupils.

What resources are there?

The Learning about Learning website highlights current thinking and includes:

  • movies showing how schools across Scotland are implementing the learning ideas into their approaches to teaching and learning
  • video clips presenting the views of leading thinkers in education
  • updated extracts from Teaching for Effective Learning
  • research summaries providing detailed information about particular areas of learning
  • downloadable presentations and resources to support staff development.

This resource enhances what is already available on other Learning and Teaching Scotland cross-curricular websites.
