LATIN SHORT  COURSE  THREE GENERAL  INSTRUCTIONS
salvete, discipuli! And welcome to Short Course Three!

Congratulations on reaching this stage in your study of Latin!

You have made excellent progress and now know enough of the language to tackle more challenging and interesting material.

Short Course Three is divided into 3 parts -

1.         General Instructions along with a

            Grammar File & Exercises.

2.         Interpretation Prose

A passage of Prose, of at least 250 words from one author, will be studied.  

The passage chosen is the story of Androclus and the Lion by Gellius.

            You will be required to show:

a. Knowledge and understanding of the content of the selected prose passage.

b. Appreciation of the style and effect of the selected prose passage.

3. Interpretation Poetry

 A selection of poems, approximately 100 lines of verse from more than one author, will be studied in Latin and English.   The authors chosen are Catullus and Martial.

            You will be required to show -

a.  Knowledge and understanding of the content of the selected poems.

b   Appreciation of the style and effect of the selected poems.

Note:   Parts 1 & 2 are essential

            Part 3 is optional.

            Your own progress and the link point with Higher Still Provisions will determine whether to include it or not.
