International Education Showcase

Hampden Park - 15 May 2009

As part of the ongoing LTS strategy to support International Education networks in Scotland’s 32 local authorities, a national network event was held on May 15, 2009 in Hampden Park in Glasgow.

The aims of this were:

  • to provide the Masterclass network with an opportunity to showcase their international education work
  • to facilitate further opportunities to network within own areas
  • to give a forum for information on further available support for international education within Curriculum for Excellence.

More than 250 people, including pupils, teachers, school management staff and local authority representatives, attended the event.

The conference programme included opportunities to hear keynote speeches from Scottish Government and LTS, as well as a range of pupils from the primary and secondary sectors. A key feature of the day was the schools showcase, in which over 40 schools exhibited their work and talked to delegates about their achievements in international education.

The audience also had a chance to quiz a panel of experts which featured representatives from Scottish Government, LTS, HMIE and Link Community Development, as well as a range of teaching staff and pupils.
