Mice and touchpads

Alternative mice

There are many alternatives for people who experience difficulty or discomfort when gripping or clicking a normal mouse. Innovative and ergonomically designed mice have been developed to meet the needs of these people.

These mice can adjust to fit a range of hand sizes, as well as accomodating both left and right handed users. Examples include the size-adjustable whale mouse which is a larger sized, flatter, adjustable mouse with a built in contoured palm rest encouraging neutral wrist, hand and finger positions.

Touchpads

Some people have very limited hand movement but still have accurate control. They may find a touchpad the best mouse alternative for them. Touchpads are often found on laptops and other portable computers but are also available as separate devices.

Touchpads can be placed on your desk or held in your hand. The mouse is moved by sliding your finger across the pad. Clicking can be done with buttons or by tapping lightly on the surface.
