Introduction and link to the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 and the summary handout.
Mike Gibson, Deputy Director, Support for Learning Division at the Scottish Government, explains about the background to the Additional Support for Learning Act.
Education authorities are under a duty to have regard to the code when carrying out their functions under the Act.
Includes guides for parents, children and young people, and health professionals.
Children in Scotland and the Scottish Executive are working together to raise awareness of the Act through a series of 14 newsletters.

To support implementation of the Act, a series of 10 'sharing information' seminars was held across Scotland in October and November 2006. These seminars were attended by professionals from education, social services, health and the voluntary sector.
Delegates were asked to submit examples of the work they undertake and these have been collated into a live document. There is also a quiz on the Act and a policy context document to help you find out more.
