The school report: the experience of young gay people in Britain's schools

Thumbnail of the Stonewall report

This report contends that homophobic bullying is almost epidemic in Britain's schools with 65 per cent of young lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) pupils having experienced direct bullying, and 75 per cent of LGB pupils attending faith schools having experienced homophobic bullying.

It presents the results of a survey asking young LGB pupils about their experiences at school and outlines key findings on: the experiences of bullying; how schools respond; the consequences of bullying for lesbian and gay pupils and what works well in addressing homophobic bullying.

The report also outlines a series of recommendations and identifies ways in which to support LGB pupils at school.
