Examples of good practice from Richmond Park and Lilybank Schools.
Using ICT effectively to support and enhance learning
'One of my first impressions on my first day as a teacher at Richmond Park was of … a most impressive lesson on the interactive whiteboard … The size and clarity of the words, symbols and images, and the fact that the children can engage directly in challenging activities which involve moving these around the screen, is beneficial to all …The highly visual impact of the interactive whiteboard motivates the children and encourages them to engage in the learning process.'
Individual planners and timetables
At Lilybank School in Inverclyde, pupils have individual planners and structured timetables which use a pictorial symbol communication system. This gives pupils control of the means of communication and encourages them to take more personal responsibility for organising their learning.
