This workshop demonstrated how Literacy Circles were used in conjunction with formative assessment to provide evidence for areas within A Curriculum for Excellence. The presenter outlined how these had been successfully introduced to the P6 class and how work in this area had also helped make connections and to develop thinking and questioning in other areas.
Work encouraged children to recognise different types of questions, create different questions independently and begin to reflect on the different ways these questions made them think. Learning from experience and each other was a key feature of developing activity along with celebrating and learning from mistakes.
Through developing the skills learning confident individuals and effective learners were developing who would continue to learn for the rest of their lives.
