Creative Fridays – Inverary Primary, Argyll and Bute

This workshop outlined activities which made best use of end of the week time – a re-motivating, inspiring, distressing, collaborative approach to learning and teaching.  Lifting spirits and ending the week on a high through working together and purposeful cross-curricular activities.

Presenters indicated that some projects lasted for a few weeks, others for part of the afternoon – rotating from one group to another.  Opportunities were used to address issues such as road safety, health promotion, etc.

Friday afternoons were re-structured and teachers discussed and planed for the activities, sharing and collaborating with one another.  Playing to strengths and learning from one another, just like the pupils.

Outcomes included positive climate, increased independence, raised achievement, building communication and collaboration.

Parents were also gradually introduced to the idea and supported the concept, and HMIe commended the innovative idea in their latest report.

A very successful activity – where delegates felt motivated just listening!
