Creation of Land Art – Bathgate Academy, West Lothian

The workshop presenters, including students from the school, outlined how this programme allows a local artist to work within the school, providing extension art programmes to enable art students to diversify and develop their interests.  The programme involves selection for S3-6 pupils who work together on a theme / project whilst developing their own work, producing large scale art pieces.
The outcomes for students: enabled them to work collaboratively to develop innovative ideas. Individual pieces of work were of significant value and were used toward portfolio work towards SQA requirements.  Further developments could involve an exhibition, calendar of art, etc.  The students demonstrated enhanced confidence in their abilities, achieving success, applying learning in new situations, working within environment, communicating in different ways.
