Narrator: The pupils collect their iBooks from the cabinet where they've been charging overnight.
Alistair: Today we're going to use the iBooks, and I'm going to show you how to put a photo into a document, and you're going to add some text to it. Narrator: Using the whiteboard, Alistair reminds the pupils how to access their folders on the school server. Then he shows them how to import a photograph in AppleWorks. Alistair: One click on your photo, drag it over, let go, and it copies across. Now, does somebody notice something. Pupil A: It's too big.
Alistair: So what have we got to do? Pupil A: Go into 'Arrange' ... Alistair: Go into 'Arrange'. Pupil: Go down to 'Scale by Percent'. Alistair: Yes. Pupil A: Then go to 75 per cent in each box. Alistair: On 75. And there we have our picture. So start up your iBooks and have a go. I'll come round to check.
Narrator: Both Alistair and the classroom assistant move round the class helping the pupils. Alistair: Change it to 75. Good boy. Click on the other one. Let go there. And that's perfect, isn't it. The next bit of the lesson is we are going to put a little piece of text underneath it - 'This is my school'. What else can we do? Pupil B: Colour it. Alistair: We can colour it. Well done. So how do we colour it? Pupil B: Highlight it, then go up to the 'Colour' box at the top.
Narrator: After Alistair demonstrates how to vary the style of the text, it's the pupils' turn to try. They copy the text from their jotters. Alistair: Right, I think we'll have to actually do that little bit again.
Narrator: There aren't quite enough iBooks to go round, so a few of the pupils have to share. Alistair: Okay, so you can put a frame round your work.
Narrator: At the end of the lesson, the iBooks go back in the cabinet for another class to use.
