Through this exercise the teacher hopes that the pupils will observe how the colours move in the water and what happens to them when the colours mix together. When this happens the children will take it in turns to take digital pictures which can then be shown to other pupils who did not take part in the activity, as well as promote discussion with those in the group.
The activity covers the key aspects of the Curriculum Framework for Children 3 to 5 under 'knowledge and understanding of the world' by making pupils aware of everyday applications of technology and how to use it appropriately, and teaching them to recognise patterns, shapes and colours in the world around them.
