Computer games, whether off the shelf or designed with particular learning outcomes in mind, can offer teachers ways in which they can engage and motivate learners.

However, at the Consolarium we wanted to explore ways in which computer games can be exploited to enable learners to become the creators of digital resources and not only the consumers.

In other areas of ICT, such as movie making, podcasting or image manipulation, this can be achieved quite easily but having children and young people creating their own games that they and their peers could play was something that we really wanted to explore.
