Glow in Scottish Borders Council

Background provisioning of Glow accounts for all secondary staff has been completed and schools decide when they wish their logins to be released. Several groups of ‘key’ secondary staff together with their Mentor are currently familiarising themselves with Glow, and some have begun working with a few of their classes and other colleagues.

LTS is currently assisting the local authority Key Contact to provide half day SCA training to selected secondaries. All SBC primary and secondary Glow Mentors have attended the VLE training, and have found it a stimulating event.

All primary Mentors will be exploring Glow with one of their classes, by the end of May 2009.

Two small primary schools with a shared headteacher are exploring the possibilities of Glow Meet to communicate between their classes.

Key contact

The Key contact is currently doing the background provisioning for all primary staff. Glow logins are now available to schools and individuals on a request basis. Many teachers already involved in national initiatives, as well as those with a keen interest in Glow, will therefore be able to explore Glow for themselves, in advance of any planned staff development events. SBC Glow Mentors will commence delivery of staff development sessions in their areas in September 2009.
