Meuran National Gaelic Conference

The development of Gaelic education in Scotland was the subject of a special conference staged in Inverness and hosted by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE), Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS), and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Dr Dylan Jones, Headteacher of Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, Welsh Medium secondary school in Barry, Glamorgan, in South Wales was the keynote speaker.

The conference was also addressed by Frank Crawford, HM Chief Inspector, HMIE; Stuart Ritchie, Director of Curriculum and Assessment, LTS; and Gill Stewart, Director of Qualifications, SQA. In addition, each of these three Scottish organisations held a workshop illustrating good practice in Gaelic language.
