This premiere of a drama about a young care leaver in further education will raise funds to send two care leavers to a summer school in the USA run by Harvard University.
'Craig’s Story' is a 30-minute drama filmed from the point of view of Craig, aged 17, a care leaver and further education student, reflecting on his experiences of the care system.
It was made by Speakeasy Productions on behalf of the Scottish Government for use in raising awareness about the educational needs of looked after children and young people.
The Reaching High appeal has been set up by Who Cares? Scotland to raise funds to help sponsor young people involved with the organisation to attend a summer school for secondary school students at Harvard University, starting by supporting two young people in summer 2009. This will be a wonderful experience for the young people and it will make an important contribution to the organisation's wider efforts to encourage aspiration.
Who Cares? Scotland is a voluntary organisation working with and for children and young people in care. It provides a range of services, including advocacy, advice, information and support. This year it is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the theme of challenging stigma and celebrating success.
