The FRIENDS Programme

FRIENDS was developed in Australia and has been evaluated extensively since 1998. It can be delivered to a wide school-age population as part of a preventative approach aimed at reducing anxiety problems and promoting children’s resilience.

The only programme of its kind endorsed by the World Health Organisation, FRIENDS has been shown to be the most effective and clinically proven method of preventing childhood anxiety.

The 10-session programme, based on the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), can be delivered to a whole class, small group or individual, with additional sessions for parents. Currently the FRIENDS programme is tailored to two age groups: 7-11 year olds and 12-16 year olds.

One-day training courses, covering the principles of CBT and training to deliver the FRIENDS programme, are being offered in Stirling on the following dates:

Mon 29 October, Fri 16 November, Fri 7 December, Fri 11 January, Thurs 24 January, Fri 15 February, Fri 7 March, Mon 31 March, Mon 28 April, Fri 16 May, Fri 6 June.
