Since May 2002 pupils of Rothesay Academy have worked with Fyne Homes, the Lighthouse National Residency Scheme, a local housing association, local landscape architects and sculptors, in the design and redevelopment of the site of a former cotton mill.

As part of the P7-S1 interface, P7 pupils are given the opportunity to choose one course from the S1-S2 elective package.  Those choosing music in the community or art and design follow the course through to S2.

Pupils are split into small groups, accompanied by a teacher, work in a local business on a project for two days. The groups work collaboratively with their business partners, who offer guidance and support.

Youthstart

The Youthstart programme is a one-year, full-time college course designed as an alternative route to study National Qualifications. The programme offers development of core and vocational skills, ICT, numeracy, communication skills, PSE and a work placement.
