In spring 2008 a series of events was held by Determined to Succeed, in partnership with HMIE, to explore the findings of the HMIE report Improving Enterprise in Education.
Keynote addresses and workshops gave local authority enterprise in education teams insight into effective current practices in delivering enterprise in education and how the report and its associated interactive self-evaluation tool could help them further improve enterprising learning and teaching in the context of Curriculum for Excellence.
The national Enterprising Social Studies Conference 2008 was held in partnership with the Social Studies national associations, Determined to Succeed, HMIE and Learning and Teaching Scotland.
The workshops were presented by social studies practitioners from schools around Scotland and demonstrated how they were engaging with enterprise in education to support their classroom teaching and learning. Several different approaches to employer engagement were highlighted by the presenters as well as variations in pedagogy and delivery within Curriculum for Excellence.
