Young people approach

St Stephen’s High School in Inverclyde asked young people from S1 to S6 to participate in the Partnership with Employers training with the staff. This approach was to try to involve the pupils in the sustainability of the employer partnerships and for them to take responsibility for their own learning.

The aim of the training session was:

  • to develop an understanding of the advantages employer partnerships have for improved learning.

The activities were designed with young people in mind and involved a high degree of discussion and interactive exercises around the links that could be made with employers and Curriculum for Excellence.

The main themes to be covered were independence, interdependence, personal responsibility and relevance of schools to adult life.
