Primary pupils rear fish for an ecology project

As part of an authority-wide initiative, Alva Primary School was able to build partnerships with the Clyde River Foundation, local countryside rangers and Clackmannanshire Council’s biodiversity officer to raise awareness of conservation in their local area. Through the project ‘Fish Go to School’ they were able to enhance the curriculum by developing skills in real-life contexts.

Each agency brought something different to the project as well as providing an insight into a range of careers.

Watch the movie and use the notepad to write down your thoughts on:

  • your current practice and how this could prepare you for developing partnerships with employers
  • your existing partnerships and how these could be developed to directly support the curriculum.
