Student Victimization in U.S Schools: Results from the 2005 School Crime Supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey The report presents the findings of the School Crime Supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). Respondents for the NCVS were selected using a 'rotating panel' design and participated in the survey every six months. The report focuses on students aged 12 to 16 enrolled in the 6th to 12th grade who were enrolled in school 6 months prior to the survey and were not homeschooled.
Special Educational Needs Disagreement Resolution Service – National Evaluation A report which evaluates independent disagreement resolution services appointed when there is disagreement on the provision of special educational needs (SEN). It indentifies and assesses effectiveness and barriers across 9 English regions.
Social selectivity of state schools and the impact of grammars This report discusses a comprehensive review of the academic characteristics and social impacts of the 164 grammar schools in England. The study uses statistical analysis of pupils age 11 to 16 in addition to a review of significant studies previously undertaken into the academic achievement of pupils in grammar schools.
Scotland’s People: results from the 2007 Scottish Household Survey This paper presents the final results of the Scottish Household Survey of 2007. It offers a breadth of statistics relating to modern living and community including infrastructure qualifications, financial wealth, communities, healthcare, adult education and culture.
Research into Expanding Apprenticeships Presents the findings of a research study which aimed to inform discussions about how the apprenticeship programme in England could be expanded. The research aimed to provide an understanding of employers’ and learners' attitudes towards the apprenticeship programme. The research involved case studies of 46 employers involved in the apprenticeship programme, surveys of a representative sample of 1,000 employers and 2,002 employers participating in the programme and interviews with young people in apprenticeships.
Relational pedagogy and the Arts An article focusing on relational pedagogy, in particular, in relation to the teacher-pupil relationship, peer relationships and developing communities of enquiry.
Assessment for Learning: the Impact of National Strategy Support A report charting the progress of 9th grade dropouts and re-enrollment. A third of the dropouts surveyed re-enrolled and the report details their progress, struggles and graduations over a five year period.
Rapid Review of Research on Apprenticeships A collation of evidence which reviews of trends discovered, attitudes and trends towards apprenticeships, where data is lacking and what could be learned from the available data to feed into further programme development.
