Early Years

Transcript of Eating together video

The following text is the transcript of a video clip which shows a childminder serving a meal to three children of different ages. In the video, the two slightly older children sit at the table, while the youngest child sits in a high chair next to the table.

Childminder:

Here we are. There’s one for Charlotte.

There you are Luke, I think I’ll put yours down there. Tuck your bib in.

There you are: banana.

Here’s your drinks.

Was that good fun in the garden?

Charlotte:

Yes! The sand

Childminder:

You liked the sand.

Charlotte:

Yes.

Childminder:

Did you like in the sand? I think Luke liked the sand too.

(to the youngest child) Watch those gums. I’ll get some more banana for you. Do you want another piece of banana? There you are. I’ll put that up there. There’s a good boy.

Where have they gone? Here they are. Do you want one?

I think someone likes raisins. Yummy. Do you not want your toast? If you don’t want it just leave it at the side of your plate. That’s a boy. Are you going to eat all your raisins? You’ve eaten all your toast. You’ve eaten it all up.

(to the youngest child) And how are you getting on? What have you got left up here? Do you want another bit of banana? Do you want to try your juice? There you are. That’s a boy, good boy.
End of transcript.
