Quality in Pre-school Educational Provision : Staffing and Staff Development

This research project was funded by the Scottish Executive and carried out by Christine Stephen and her colleagues in the Institute of Education, the University of Stirling during the period 1997/98.

The research aimed to:

  • describe the role of pre-school practitioners from two different perspectives and to draw these perspectives together
  • consider any differences in role perception or observed activity arising from different training routes
  • discuss the implications for training in the future
