Working with Parents: A Shared Understanding of the Curriculum 3-5

Picture of Working with Parents: A Shared Understanding of the Curriculum 3-5

This publication explores how staff in early years settings can further develop communication and contact with parents, based on a shared understanding of the principles of the Curriculum Framework 3 to 5 document.

The practical challenge is to make connections between what children know, what we know about how children learn and the intimate knowledge that parents have about their children.

The key message of this publication is that young children's learning and the roles parents' play in supporting this cannot be seen in isolation from the wider, constantly changing needs of families and the communities in which they live.

Illustrated practical examples and suggested staff development activities are provided.
