Let's Go with Katy Modules 1-3
Let's Go is designed to develop pupils' understanding of the concepts of left, right, orientation and bearings. Pupils will identify with the character Katy as they guide her through a variety of situations which take place in a graphically rich environment. Each of the modules is concerned with a progression of skills, knowledge and understanding.
Let's Go will provide a motivating context for learning and encourage practical activities, discussion and problem solving.
Module 1 - Let's Go to the Garden
Objectives
- To give pupils confidence in, and understanding of, the concepts of left and right
- To give pupils practice in identifying left or right from a given point of reference.
Module 2 - Let's Go to the Playpark
Objectives
- To reinforce knowledge of left and right gained through practical experience
- To give pupils further practice in distinguishing between left and right in different orientations.
Module 3 - Let's Go to the Zoo
Objectives
- To familiarise pupils with forward movement and turning left or right through 90 degrees
- To introduce pupils to simple route planning
- To give practice in working out a destination following a given route using commands left, right or forward.
