Useful motions
The motions in the document below can be used either as part of a debate in the classroom or in debating society meetings. The motions are grouped thematically and not by school subject (History, Science, English, etc).
This is not a definitive list of motions but should be a useful guide. Teachers should think about other motion topics. Furthermore, teachers can encourage pupils to come up with motion topics (by asking what sort of things the pupils would like to debate about and then coming up with a motion from the suggestions put forward).
