What judges look for

Introduction

Judges at competitions look for a number of different things when they are coming to their decisions. Although different tournaments may label these criteria in different ways or give extra emphasis to a certain element, the four main things judges look for can be categorised as:

  • Reasoning and evidence
  • Organisation and prioritisation
  • Expression and delivery
  • Listening and responding
