Looking towards publication of the final experiences and outcomes in the week beginning 30 March, this update contains links to case studies and other materials that will help support work to implement the new guidance. The Curriculum for Excellence Glow Groups are already providing some lively discussion and exciting online events - a taste of what is on offer is provided in this update.
HMIE and LTS have been working together in organising Good Practice conferences during 2008 and have more planned throughout 2009. This section of the website provides CPD opportunities based on the materials being published at each conference. These materials ensure that greater numbers of practitioners across Scotland are able to draw on the key messages and advice from Good Practice conferences in ways and at times that support their CPD arrangements locally.

Three brand new case studies exemplify the key areas of 'Building the Curriculum 3'.
Aboyne Academy
An account of a transition project made up of two interesting initiatives involving associated primary schools and illustrating how aspects of 'Building the Curriculum 3' were addressed while implementing the draft experiences and outcomes.
Drummond Community High School
An in-depth look at the development of a transition project involving Drummond Community High School and its associated primary schools. It has been planned as a long-term project and therefore this is a work in progress which will be updated as it develops.
St Machar Academy has considered the promotion of quality health and wellbeing initiatives a priority for its community for some time. This case study focuses on initiatives which exemplify a number of the features of Curriculum for Excellence described in 'Building the Curriculum 3'.
Engagement with parents and carers
Schools and pre-school centres are thinking of creative and interesting ways to explain to parents what Curriculum for Excellence will mean for their child. There are some really good examples of open events for parents where a whole school approach to showing aspects of Curriculum for Excellence can be seen in action. This is particularly successful when parents and children are in the classroom together and can see how their child can benefit from approaches such as active learning, co-operative learning and critical thinking.
A short leaflet to support engagement events with parents is now available to download. Please contact Lorraine Sanda (l.sanda@LTScotland.org.uk) with examples of your engagement activities with parents.
