Curriculum for Excellence

Programme governance

The Curriculum for Excellence Management Board has overall responsibility for ensuring that the programme of curriculum change is delivered.

A range of organisations with a part to play in bringing about the changes in educational outcomes is represented on the Board.

These are:

  • Scottish Government
  • Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS)
  • Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)
  • HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE)
  • Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS)
  • Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association (SSTA)
  • Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers (SOLACE)
  • Association of Scotland's Colleges (ASC)
  • Association of Headteachers and Deputes in Scotland (AHDS)
  • School Leaders Scotland (SLS)
  • Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES)
  • General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) 
  • Skills Development Scotland (SDS)
  • Deans of Universities’ Faculties of Education.
  • Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) 

The Management Board minutes and discussion papers are published on a regular basis.
