Coaching and mentoring

Man talking at Shared Experience
Internationally there has been an increasing interest in the potential of coaching and mentoring for learning and teaching. Coaching and mentoring strategies are being employed in a wide range of situations including:
  • to develop leadership practice
  • to support CPD
The CPD Team over the last few years has engaged with a wide range of educational professionals in Scotland to determine the difference coaching and mentoring is making. The resulting resource  includes commentary on:
  • case studies describing how coaching and mentoring contributes to professional development and practice
  • accounts of school leaders who are incorporating coaching into their leadership
  • examples of how coaching approaches are being used with pupils
  • case studies of the development of coaching culture in schools and in education and children’s services organisations
  • how coaching is seen as the centrepiece of Flexible Route to Headship
