What is a CPD provider?

A CPD provider is an individual or organisation that has the knowledge and the ability to provide CPD opportunities to educators. Providers should have the relevant experience required to deliver opportunities, as well as having procedures in place to assure the quality of their delivery. They should have the capacity to respond to the needs of individual learners and be able to respond to the demand for programmes.

What is a registered CPD provider?

The national CPD team (part of Learning and Teaching Scotland) is continuing the work of the GTCS in maintaining a register of CPD providers to Scottish education.

Registered providers have:

  • agreed to adhere to a set of principles
  • undertaken a preliminary registration process involving the provision and checking of two references
  • incorporated the features of effective CPD into their provision.

What are the benefits of becoming a registered CPD provider?

There are numerous benefits of becoming an approved provider.

  • Your organisation has the opportunity to promote your CPD opportunities to more than 80,000 educators in Scotland through the CPDFind database tool.
  • you are entitled to use the National Register logo which can be used on all your promotional materials.
  • the National Register is fully supported by the Scottish Executive.
