What is the state of biodiversity in Scotland?

Scottish Primrose

Many plants and animals occur in more than one place around the world. Others only live in one country. This is true in Scotland: there are species such as the Scottish Primrose that only live in Scotland and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Birds such as the Corncrake migrate, but they come to Scotland to breed and rear their young.

Some species are benefiting from the work being done to conserve their habitats but many others are still declining. The effects of changes to our climate will make it harder to conserve our biodiversity.
