These materials support the audit of education for citizenship in secondary education. They aim to assist in reviewing existing practice in your school or college. The material consists of:
Orientation materials
Good for use at school or department-based in-service days to familiarise staff with the main elements of the framework for education for citizenship.
Audit questionnaires
Four questionnaires to assist schools in accounting for and evaluating current provision for education for citizenship. The questionnaires can also be accessed individually - see below.
Discussion materials
Materials for use with young people to support discussion of education for citizenship and assess the extent to which they have engaged with the ideas.
There are four questionnaires, one for each context of development. The first three are for completion by the headteacher or a representative with input from other staff. Teachers with subject responsibilities will complete the fourth questionnaire in consultation with their departments. LT Scotland has prepared support materials to help subject teachers complete it.
A full review of existing practice will require using all four together, but you may prefer to select one or two for use in the first year and others in later years.
