Many of the major aid charities provide comprehensive information about the issues of fair trade, suitable for all stages of education. Some also have speakers who may talk to classes or year group assemblies. These websites provide a range of general information, resources and ideas for action related to the issues of fair trade and give links to more detailed information.
Development Education Centres - DECs are local resource and support centres that work with teachers and others responsible for education to promote global citizenship in schools and to ensure that there is a global dimension throughout Scottish education.
The International Development Education Association of Scotland (IDEAS) is a network of over 40 organisations and individuals involved in Development Education and Education for Global Citizenship across Scotland. There are six Development Education Centres (DECs) in Scotland. Each centre has an extensive library of resources and education workers in each DEC will be happy to provide advice on appropriate resources for particular subject areas and themes as well as information on how to obtain them.
These are a range of resources to support fair trade by other national agencies for school managers and teachers.

Learning Africa - This site provides a series of classroom activities and learning resources which draw on and help to address the issues raised by the Commission for Africa report published earlier this year.
RISC Educational Resources - Imaginative and engaging educational resources with a theme of raising global awareness, developing skills, attitudes and values which enable students to take action for change.
SCIAF Youth - Play the banana split game and learn about the banana chain and how profits are made.
St Brendans Primary - St Brendan's pupils take action and raise awareness of fair trade issues and encourage their community to try fair trade products.
Unwrap the story - PaPaPaa's notes provide an overview of the issues around fair trade and cocoa covered on the site, and put the teaching activities into context.
Christian Aid - Online resources for teachers, offering practical classroom materials and assembly ideas for primary and secondary schools.
Global Dimension - A guide to books, videos, posters and websites with a global dimension.

Make your school a Fairtrade school - Schools, churches, towns and cities can gain Fairtrade status through demonstrating a commitment to supporting fair trade. The Scottish Government is exploring ways of making Scotland a Fairtrade nation, and young people will play a large part in that, both now and in the future.
Young Co-operatives - Young people are often motivated to maintain an ongoing commitment to fair trade. They could consider setting up a Young Co-operative Group.
Word Document: Rainbow Turtle (50KB) - For schools in the Paisley and Linlithgow areas, Rainbow Turtle, a Fairtrade shop, has produced a Schools Pack, and is keen to support schools to develop Fairtrade. It has education workers who offer workshops for schools, and it can supply Fairtrade goods for events.
