CSV Action 4 Sustainability
An initiative by Community Service Volunteers, the UK's largest volunteering and training charity, Action 4 Sustainability offers support to schools in delivering education for sustainable development. Currently focussing on Highland, but hoping to extend to other areas in the future, the website offers workshops for young people and training for teachers, as well as providing a resource library and information on what other organisations are doing. The programme also supports schools in achieving their Eco Schools Green Flag award.

Sustrans: Safe Routes to Schools project
Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, works on practical projects to encourage people to walk, cycle and use public transport. The Safe Routes to School project offers free curriculum resources, ideas and advice to schools, local authorities, pupils, teachers and parents to make the school journey safer and healthier for everyone. Respected think-tank which supports economic justice campaigns worldwide. Research, analyses, news and data on international debt and finance.
Centre for Alternative Technology
Environmental charity aiming to inspire, inform and enable people to live more sustainably. Website offers some publications and worksheets for teachers and young people on topics including wind power, recycling and renewable energy. It has an eco-centre in Wales offering school visits and residential courses for teachers.
Friends of the Earth Scotland
Independent charity and pressure group campaigning on environment issues of public concern. Offers booklets, publications and information on local and national campaigns.
Greenpeace
Independent, non-profit, global campaigning organisation on environment issues. Informative and interesting site with some educational resources.
Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF)
Overseas aid and development agency of the Catholic Church of Scotland. The organisation supports poverty reduction programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Area on website for schools with useful information and some teacher resources.
World Wildlife Fund
Independent, global, environmental organisation which aims to protect endangered species and their habitats. Area on the website for teachers with a large bank of resources, activities and case studies.
Young People's Trust for the Environment
Charity which aims to encourage young people's understanding of the environment and the need for sustainability. As well as information on award schemes and residential courses, the website has a brilliant list of animal and environmental factsheets written specifically for young people on a huge range of subjects.
