Britkid
Race, racism and life seen through the eyes of a group of fictitious British young people in their mid-teens. The Serious Issues and Teachers' Stuff sections are well worth a look. Lots of bite-sized information written for young people on major issues including Islamophobia, UK immigration law and extreme right-wing movements.
Christian Aid 'Global Gang'
Lively website specifically for young people aged 7-14. It covers a range of issues including refugees, health, fair trade, peace and conflict, environment, disasters and hunger. Young people can get news on global issues, post messages, get help with homework and try out the ethically minded gamezone. Good section for teachers.
UN's World Food Programme (WFP): Food Force - 'humanitarian' video game
Set on a fictitious island called Sheylan riven by drought and war, Food Force invites children to complete six virtual missions that reflect real-life obstacles faced by WFP in its emergency responses both to the tsunami and other hunger crises around the world. You can download PC and Mac versions of the game for free and detailed teachers' notes offer lesson plans at Primary, Intermediate and Secondary level.

Guide to resources for all age groups and subjects which bring a global dimension to teaching. Includes climate change, poverty, water issues, fair trade and resources about individual countries. Find out how the global dimension is relevant to every subject in the curriculum. Useful section for teachers to exchange views and find information on professional development and school speaker services.

A one-stop-shop, providing quick access to information on developing an international dimension in the curriculum. An excellent international website from the British Council packed with useful ideas and resources. There is a simple partner finding tool so you can work with schools in other parts of the world, project ideas and guidelines on running your own project.
Jubilee Scotland Education Pack
Jubilee Scotland campaigns for 100 per cent debt cancellation for the world's poorest countries. It has produced a free Education Pack for secondary schools in association with the Educational Institute of Scotland. This provides a brief history of debt, case studies on individual countries, and classroom activities. Particularly useful for those teaching economics, environmental studies, geography, modern studies and RME.
Oxfam Education
Colourful website with innovative classroom resources for ages 5-16. Topics include peace and conflict, rights and social justice and sustainability.
United Nations Cyberschoolbus
Creative global learning and teaching project of the United Nations promoting education about international issues. Packed with teaching materials and activities for schools - all age groups.
Worldaware
Aims to promote understanding of international development issues. It produces geography, citizenship and sustainable development resources for the school curriculum. Focused on the English curriculum, but lots of interesting material.

Eurodesk
Eurodesk is an information service on European opportunities for young people. Students can find information on work, study, travel and volunteering abroad. They also have free teaching resources on Europe and can offer support and information on any aspect of Europe to schools and colleges.
Europa: The European Union at a glance
Europa is the portal site of the European Union. This section of the site provides bite-sized information about the EU, giving a very quick guide to the member states, maps, treaties and laws, the history and the eurojargon.
European Youth Portal
Gateway for young people aged 15-25, with information on work, study, volunteering, citizens' rights and active citizenship in European Union countries.
Global Express
Magazine for teachers working with 8-14-year-olds on world events and global issues in the news. You can view back issues online and download some practical classroom activities on a wide range of topical issues including voting, democracy, Iraq, famine, Kosovo and asylum seekers. It is part of the Development Education Project website.

Hope and Homes for Children
Charity providing homes and support for children worldwide made homeless due to war or disaster. It offers a schools information pack for young people aged 5-18 years.
International Development Education Association of Scotland (IDEAS)
Network of 40 organisations and individuals involved in Development Education and Education for Global Citizenship across Scotland. Access to excellent resources catalogue covering development and environmental education, gender and multicultural awareness, human rights and equal opportunities. Material covers early years through to post 16.
The Institute for Global Ethics
Charitable organisation aiming to promote ethical behaviour through research, public discourse and practical workshops and seminars.
International Red Cross
Impartial, independent and neutral organisation providing support and assistance during conflict. Website has section on educational programmes for young people.
Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF)
Overseas aid and development agency of the Catholic Church of Scotland. The organisation supports poverty reduction programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Area on website for schools with useful information and some teacher resources.

International assembly of countries committed to preserving peace through international cooperation and collective security.
