Britkid
Race, racism and life seen through the eyes of a group of fictitious British young people in their mid-teens. The Serious Issues and Teachers' Stuff sections are well worth a look. Lots of bite-sized information written for young people on major issues including Islamophobia, UK immigration law and extreme right-wing movements.


Organisations

Age Concern
Charity which supports people over 50 by providing services and information. it also campaigns on a range of issues concerning older people and work to influence public opinion and government policy.

The British Council of Disabled People
The UK's national organisation of the worldwide Disabled People's Movement. Established and run by disabled people to promote full equality and participation in UK society.

Centre for Studies on Inclusive Education
Independent centre working in the UK and overseas to promote inclusion and end segregation. Website is packed with information about inclusive education and related issues.

Child Poverty Action Group
Promotes action for the relief of poverty among children and families. Campaigns and provides information which seeks to improve benefits and policies for low-income families. Provides latest facts and figures on poverty in the UK, advice on welfare benefits system, training and seminars.

Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland
The Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland champions equality and human rights for all, working to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations, ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society.

Engender
An information, research and networking organisation for women in Scotland. It works with other groups locally and internationally to improve women's lives and increase their power and influence.

Families Outside
Through research, training and partnership work, Scottish charity Families Outside aims to raise awareness of the needs of families affected by imprisonment so that they can get the information and support they need to cope.

Help the Aged
Charity supporting and addressing the issues of older people. It works together with older people to campaign, research and develop practical solutions to poverty, isolation, ageism and poor standards of care.

The Holcaust Educational Trust
The Holocaust Educational Trust aims to educate young people in schools, universities and in the community about the Holocaust and the important lessons to be learned for today. The Trust works to raise awareness and understanding of the Holocaust, providing teacher training, an outreach programme for schools, teaching aids and resource materials.

Their Lessons from Auschwitz Project, for teachers and sixth year pupils, is run over three, non-consecutive days with the focus being a one day visit to the former extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Participants complete a follow-up project aimed at sharing their experiences of the visit, disseminating the lessons they have learned to their schools and communities.

Runnymede Trust
Works with minority ethnic communities and policy makers to fight social injustice and racial discrimination. Interest areas include education, the criminal justice system, employment and citizenship.

Women's National Commission
The official, independent advisory body giving the views of women to the UK Government.
