Building your Curriculum is a process developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland to help schools and centres review their curriculum structures to reflect the key elements of Building the Curriculum 3.
By engaging in the Building your Curriculum process, leaders of schools and centres focus strategically on what they want their curriculum to look like in the future, decide what will have to change and how they are going to achieve this.
This section provides workshop materials and examples which may help schools and centres develop and agree their next steps together and begin to construct their own strategic curriculum plan through considering three key questions:
- What do we want our school to look like in the future?
- What do we need to do to get there?
- How are we going to bring that about?
As part of this process, schools and centres need to involve the school community comprising staff, parents, pupils and partners. They need to identify and build on their existing strengths and identify their priorities for change. Finally, they will create a curriculum plan to map out their proposed journey to show what the school will look like in a few years' time.
