The desktop

The picture on the screen is your desktop.

Not all desktops look the same. A different background can make the screen look quite different.

However, the two important parts are always there in some form:

1. the icons, little pictures that are shortcuts to the software and
2. the task bar which lies along the bottom of the screen.
