All over the world there are computers that can connect with each other. The connections are made through different technologies, but most often through phone lines. This network of computers is called the Internet.

The Internet is the term for all the hardware in this worldwide network – computers, cabling, phone links, radio masts and satellites. The purpose of the Internet is to carry information quickly and cheaply directly into businesses and into homes.
