Gross Pay
People are paid in many different ways: by the hour, by the week,
by the month, by piecework, by commission, or by a combination of
these.
Note that there are 52 weeks in a year, 7 days in a week, which makes
364 days in a year (not that anyone actually works this), yet we are
told there are 365 days in a normal year. Similarly, a month
(of which there are 12 in a year) has 28 or 29 or 30 or 31 days, so
there are not 4 weeks per month.
Needless to say, as you may know only too well, you don't necessarily
get to keep all of your earnings. What you actually get paid in total
is your gross pay. Once
deductions have been taken off you are left with your nett
or take-home pay. |
