Writing a Portfolio
A portfolio refers to a group of pieces of writing. For assessment you may be asked to write a portfolio of work, all related to one theme.
This should contain a major piece of writing accompanied by two or three shorter, related pieces.
For example, you could write:
- A letter requesting a placement, a memo to your tutor and an essay
or report about your placement
- A report on a subject of interest to you, and two letters seeking
additional information about the subject of interest
- An essay, a letter to a company seeking information, and a letter
to the press giving your opinion
- Any other suitable combination of texts.
The important thing to remember about portfolio writing is that the pieces you write must be related to each other.
