What sections go into a report?

Front page
It is useful to provide a simply prepared front page, with the report's title, author and date of writing printed on it. This page is not numbered.

Contents page
The Contents page lists the main headings used in your report, and shows what page number each section is on. This page itself is not numbered.

Background
This section (which is not usually numbered in the report, although it can be if you choose) is used to provide background information to the topic of the report. You may want to provide facts and figures to show why the issue is a problem. Alternatively, you may want to discuss how the subject of your report fits in with the ‘bigger picture.'
