Syntax Your writing should have good syntax. Syntax refers to word order and sentence construction. When you write, you must write in clear sentences, and you must make sure that your sentences are easy to understand.A sentence is a complete statement. This means that a sentence should make sense in its own right. For example, the phrase William wanted to take the bus home is a complete sentence, because it contains enough information for us to make sense of what is being said.
